Mission:
Upcountry Sustainability brings people and groups together creating a collaborative, sustainable Maui community, and thereby helps build a healthy island, state, and planet Earth.
Vision:
We envision a multi-cultural community that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. We work together in the spirit of aloha to serve as a model of a self-reliant, thriving community.
Approach:
Our Monthly Meetings, education and training events, local initiatives and out reach efforts work to build a balanced local economy, establish healthy relationships with the environment, and share resources and knowledge.
Examples our current ares of emphasis are: creation of a viable and sustainable local food supply, use and re-use of local building materials, ”waste” management toward a zero waste goal, water conservation, and renewable energy.
